What is CrossFit?

CrossFit is many things. Primarily, it’s a fitness regimen developed by Coach Greg Glassman over several decades. He was the first person in history to define fitness in a meaningful, measurable way (increased work capacity across broad time and modal domains). CrossFit itself is defined as that which optimizes fitness (constantly varied functional movements performed at relatively high intensity). CrossFit is also the community that spontaneously arises when people do these workouts together. In fact, the communal aspect of CrossFit is a key component of why it’s so effective.

Why CrossFit Lemoore?

CrossFit Lemoore is more than just a gym; it’s a family.  Since beginning in our garage in November 2012, we have grown into a large family made up of all ages, sizes and abilities.  We exist to help people become better versions of themselves in a positive and humble environment. We are here to encourage and support people in reaching their goals.  Everyone is welcome at CrossFit Lemoore.



"Joining the CrossFit Lemoore family is hands down one of the best decisions I have ever made in my life.  I grew up as a dancer and when my dancing career was over I needed a way to stay in shape for my health and to look good in a bikini for pageants.  When I started, I was amazed by the friendliness of everyone around me and not just the coaches.  It was truly a welcoming environment that I really needed to be around in order to work out comfortably.  At first, I’m not gonna lie, it was difficult.  But after a few work outs I learned how it all worked and started to remember to count my reps (a rookie mistake – count your reps!).  When I first started to work out, I was really concerned to work out with other people at the same time, but I realized that it was a competition against myself and that no one was concerned with beating me, but it was a healthy environment that I was comfortable working out in.  And within a few months, I had never been so fit and healthy in my entire life and I had fun getting fit.  When I walk into a normal gym, I look at all the machines and I get extremely overwhelmed because I have no idea what to work on or even how to use some of the machines.  I love that with CrossFit I can walk in the gym and they tell me what we are going to do today and it is a far better work out than I could come up with at a gym.  However, my absolute favorite part of CrossFit and especially CrossFit Lemoore, is I have met some of my best friends there, I have gained a support system not for just the workouts but life in general, and I have met some of the most inspirational people in my life that I look up to and hope to be like someday.  I am forever grateful for and in debt to Ryan Rocha and the entire CrossFit Lemoore family.  Going from a precious ballerina to a strong weightlifter is something I never imagined myself doing, but I am so glad that this is my life now and I wouldn’t trade it for the world."
